Finding Balance in Difficult Times

Standard

“The greatest achievement was at first and for a time a dream. The oak sleeps in the acorn; the bird sleeps in  the egg; and in the highest vision of the soul, a waking angel stirs. Dreams are the seedlings of realities……”

– James Allen

Balance Life Sargam Quote.png

After half a month of spiritual vacation in Italy and Greece I landed in Delhi on 13th November, the pollution level of the city was drastically high. I sat with Samaira in my arms at the airport waiting for our luggage, it was 3 am in the morning my eyes were itching with the fume like atmosphere inside the airport. I was just thinking if inside the airport it is this bad not sure what would be the environment outside?

A couple of days ago we were in Greece eating organic produce, inhaling fresh air and  rejuvenating spiritually, mentally and emotionally. Coming back to home was a crash landing for me into practical reality.

It took me a week to gather myself back and accept the dichotomy of life this reflection and introspection always happens in times of transition from material reality to spiritual and from spiritual to material. I am sure many of you would have faced similar situations too. When you are so full of motivation after a retreat or a mind blowing class and are ready to take off with your superwoman/man cape to follow your dreams and life purpose there is something that makes you feel you are being held back  or your progress is slow because……. your child is young and needs you,  your maid took a long leave  or your job happens to be on a rollercoster ride. Trust me there is a long list of why I cannot do what I am meant to do ….there is nothing wrong if you feel this is like your own story.

Balancing Material Life and Life Purpose.png

I had a deep conversation with my father on finding the balance. I am really fortunate to have my father beside me in such times sometimes experience of life really makes a difference in perceiving a situation. When we are back from a spiritual retreat we are so charged with the purpose and the will of our higher soul, we are so motivated to walk the path of purpose that even a slight obstacle in moving in that direction hurts.  we are tied down with responsibilities of family, job ,daily routines and loved ones…and many of us stop here thinking once my life situation is more convenient for following my dreams I will take the action …and then something else happens and we postpone the action..and we get into a loop our mental chakravyuh (viscious circle) and you start thinking feeling depressed, angry and anxious because you are out of alignment from your soul’s calling, your life purpose.

So this is all about the reasons why you could not do what you were supposed to do. Let us see what was happening at an energetic level;  you did not realize but you were  constantly feeding the thought form of failure, the obstacles, the inadequacies of why pursuing your dream was not possible. This created more imbalance in your life because what you focus on ….grows that is the law of attention. I am sure we all have done this.

“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.” Albert Einstein.

I am sharing some quick tips to help you return to your heart space from the mind space which constantly keeps you out of balance.

  1. Direct Your Mental Energy To Focus on Your Dream/Purpose

Every thing needs energy to manifest so why spend it on situations that are bothering you because if you constantly supply it with mental energy you are unconsciously energizing your imbalanced life. So disconnect from all the reasons why you are stuck up in life and instead start defining your dream, your purpose, put it in words , speak about it , write about it, sing about it and pour in your mental energy into it. The following lines  by 19th century writer Louisa May Alcott phrases it so well

“Far away in the sunshine, are my highest inspirations.I may not reach them, but I can look up and see the beauty, believe in them and try to follow where they lead…..”

2. There’s More to Life Than Making It Go Faster , Be Patient!

This is my second mantra, even if you are constantly energizing your dream there will be times when you will feel , life is not moving with the pace you want it to be. Sometime you will feel you are dragging life and sometime life will be dragging you. Ever felt it this way?? I have and trust me this is completely normal for all of us..

You cannot make your life move faster than it is moving. No matter how urgent your situation may seem to be, things are going to happen when they happen, not a minute sooner. Be patient with yourself. Be patient with others. Be patient with life. Patience always pays off!

With this always keep your eyes on your purpose your dreams

3. Master the Art of ‘Being’ rather than ‘Doing’

If you ask anyone are you free, rarely people will say they are because being busy is the new cool. So every one is busy doing something all the time. But if you really want to experience inner transformation you will have to reduce your busy time and change it to being time.  This is where you can start with a 5 minute daily routine of just doing nothing instead experiencing your being so every 2 hours start practicing ‘being’ you can put an alarm and try it for a week.  When you give yourself the time to ‘be’ by practicing mindfulness or meditation you actually get an appointment with yourself. The true you who is created by God for a unique purpose.

4. Climb Down the Mountain of Expectations

This one is a the chart topper in my list and has led to the frustrations of most of the people I have healed, they feel they are not able to achieve as per the expectations either of their loved ones or sometime their own. It is great to set goals , it is great to have expectations but only if it motivates you to move forward. If somehow the mountain of expectations is too big and high it is better to climb down a little and introspect. Never let your expectations become an obstacle in achieving your dreams. Most of the people beat themselves up because they are unable to meet these expectations leading to depression, stress and anxiety

5. You Are Your Best Version …NOW!!

Celebrate your Presence rather than stressing over it…

“Comparison is the thief of all JOY”

This is the last but the most important mantra , the moment you start looking around with your comparative eyes , you are ruining your own happiness , stagnating your growth. Social media can fuel these feelings Facebook and Instagram are an excellent platform to feel this pain 😉 .

Trust me I have gone through these bouts of comparisons too and then finally I realized that what ever people are doing is their reality, they are living a life based on following their dreams . If I want to live a life of my dreams I will have to chase my dreams and live my reality not theirs. I can either spend my energy in creating my reality or  waste it criticizing, comparing and judging others..the choice is mine.

This has made me more grateful and appreciative of the life people have created for themselves it gives a hope and motivation to create an extraordinary life for myself too. So get inspired and use all the awesome life events that are happening to others as a validation of dreams coming true.

When you see a sunset you can never say ohh the sunset could be better.. some more shades can be added, may be sun could set a bit to the right or to the left… every sunset is just perfect the way it is BUT when you look at yourself, one of god’s most loved creation you are constantly trying to perfect your self by comparing and competing interfering with the love and uniqueness with which you were created.

Remind Yourself Now – You are your Best Version!

Inner Conversations: Visit to the Shrine of St Francis of Assisi

Standard

Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace.
— The Prayer of St. Francis

st-francis-slider.jpg

St Francis was introduced to me by Master Choa Kok Sui through the Meditation on Twin Hearts. All of you who have meditated with me will remember the reference to this glorious saint in the MCKS Meditation On Twin Hearts. Here are the lines of the prayer:

Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy.

In MCKS Pranic Healing and Arhatic Yoga students from time to time are provided nurturing sessions to build upon our practice. This year we had a special nurturing session by Acharya Danny on the Power of Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi. This session was a life changer in many ways for me and created a deep deep respect for my spiritual teacher and The St. Francis.

I had heard Dr. Wayne Dyer narrating a story about his miraculous healing in Assisi and his divine connection with the saint . You can call it synchronicity while I call it grace, two days prior to my trip I get a newsletter from Wayne Dyer titled ” St Francis” with a link to his “Experiencing The Miraculous Seminar” where he is lecturing in the chapel where St Francis prayed and just freezes with tears pouring from his eyes… you can see the recording:

Wayne Dyer has done a lot of writing on St. Francis and is one of my favorite authors.

Our trip to Italy had a special agenda and it was a visit to Assisi. The town is slightly out of way as compared to the conventional iterinaries of Italy and we had limited days at hand so instead of visiting Florence or Venice I had chosen Assisi for obvious reasons 🙂

There was a calling to this holy place and somewhere I had felt an ecstasy to be there and to experience the presence of the great ones while I pray and meditate. It is difficult to explain things on the spiritual path, why I do what I do, Why I believe what I believe? Somehow travel in my family is a choice that I make and thankfully my partner just supports me without questions. I also see this as a blessing in my life. Last year we did ‘Stonehenge’

So we take a train from Rome to Assisi which was a comfortable ride and reach Assisi in 3 hours .As you stand at the train station of Assisi you can feel the peace and bliss in the air. Even my husband felt and remarked in the evening while church bells tolled that the place has a different feel. Hmm…and I was happy and silent at the same time.

We stayed in an awesome hotel Nun Assisi Relais Spa Museum in Assisi right in the heart of the town. A good place where the family could unwind after a 3 hour train journey. We spent  the evening checking in hotel and then heading to the Spa Museum. The SPA Museum was nothing we had experienced so far, it is a well preserved historic site , it is said that they worshiped water here. Here is a picture of the SPA from internet as we did not have time to click pictures here, were busy enjoying the ambiance with Samaira my soon to be 2 year old daughter.

The Next day was an early morning as I had opted for 3 hours walking tour of Assisi with my guide Elizabeth.  Assisi has a lot to see and experience and probably needs 2-3 days to experience the magic and mysticism as there is a lot of history.

The impressive basilica built over the tomb of St. Francis of Assisi in the early 13th century is one of Italy’s – and the world’s – most important pilgrimage destinations. Pics Above

The portico of the Temple of Minerva dates from the first century BC and was converted into the church of Santa Maria della Minerva in 1539 Pics Below:

We started from the Communal square and visited the Temple of Minerva ,the roman temple with baroque interiors the entire town of Assisi is connected by beautiful narrow stone roads with small  souvenir and art shops lining up the streets that make you stop every 10 mins to marvel.

We visited the Basilica of Santa Chiara (St. Clare) one of the key disciples of St. Francis. The Basilica with its massive lateral buttresses, rose window, and simple Gothic interior, begun in 1257, contains the tomb of the St Clare and 13th‑century frescoes and paintings.

Elizabeth was an experienced guide and we connected over spirituality and meditation very well and she understood how important it was for me to visit Assisi.Though I had limited time as we had to catch a train in 3 hours she ensured I could meditate and experience the place. She showed me The San Damiano Cross  which is a large cross before which St. Francis of Assisi was praying when he is said to have received the commission from the Christ to rebuild the Church. She gently handed me the prayer that St. Francis said in front of the cross and asked me to take my time and meditate at this place. The prayer was as below:

Most High, glorious God,
enlighten the darkness of my heart
and give me true faith, certain hope, and perfect charity,
sense and knowledge, Lord,
that I may carry out Your holy and true command. Amen

As I started reciting the prayer and looked at the cross , tears just rolled continuously from my eyes and I felt a deep connection and presence around me. It was an experience. The words of the prayer are so profound it could only come from someone who was serving the higher agenda of the Source. You can try to connect with the energy by just repeating the prayer and focus on the cross , may be you can experience what I am writing.

After this Elizabeth took us to Basilica of St Francis, there was a big event going on inside the basilica so she just explained a couple of frescoes and then took me to the basement of the church to the Tomb of St Francis and as no one is allowed to speak here she left me for 15 minutes here to meditate. I was so grateful and very emotional to be here, my trip to Assisi was accomplished by being in the aura of this great saint. I gently did Twin Hearts Meditation and paid gratitude for all the sacrifices these great beings have made to bring humanity where it is now. Sent loving blessings to everyone and paid my sincere reverence to my spiritual teacher Master Choa because of his grace I could understand the Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi and be here.

The Inner Conversation that I had at this Shrine was to follow our higher purpose, to focus on the agenda of the soul ,rather than just be trapped in the needs of the incarnated soul. Life is all about living our higher purpose to allow ourselves to be available to grace to serve the will of God/Divine/Source ,whatever you may call.

You are connected with an infinite supply of source energy you just have to believe and acknowledge this energy all around you.

Day 9 New Beginnings 2016 Sargam Mishra Abundance Quotes Wayne Dyer.png

A special gratitude meditation to be receptive to the immense power of Intention.

Be Receptive to the Power of Intention:
The seventh and last face of Intention is Receptivity. As Master Choa says there is light all around us but how much light we can absorb depends on our receptivity. When we meditate we become receptive to the grace of all our spiritual teachers and the powerhouse of source energy. Gratitude opens up to grace and abundance.
Lots of love

Desire THE Way To Enlightenment in 201X

Standard

Free from desire, you realize the mystery.
Caught in desire, you see only the manifestations.
―Lao Tzu (Taoism)

Desire has been an interesting topic among spiritual enthusiast. As stated in the quote above most of the school of thoughts teach us to be free of all our desires to attain moksha. I have always been wondering why try so hard to not desire when it is easy to experience and let go. Let us try to understand what is Desire? The deeply ingrained tendencies of attachments and desire are often referred to by the English translation “earthly desires.” However, since they also include hatred, arrogance, distrust and fear, the translation “deluded impulses” may in some cases be more appropriate.

But can such desires and attachments really be eliminated? Attachments are, after all, natural human feelings, and desires are a vital and necessary aspect of life. The desire, for example, to protect oneself and one’s loved ones has been the inspiration for a wide range of advances–from the creation of supportive social groupings to the development of housing and heating. Likewise, the desire to understand humanity’s place in the cosmos has driven the development of philosophy, literature and religious thought. Desires are integral to who we are and who we seek to become.

In this sense, the elimination of all desire is neither possible nor, in fact, desirable. Were we to completely rid ourselves of desire, we would end up undermining our individual and collective will to live. Many of the spiritual gurus and holy texts emphasize on being completely free of desire to attain enlightenment , but if we were to think even the desire to not desire is also a desire 🙂

Desire is also a means of creation so if we were to understand, for e.g. when we give birth to a desire then we are introducing new possibilities of creation in the universe. The suffering is not from the desires but from the fact whether we will be able to fulfill the desires. When we start seeing our self incapable and non deserving of achieving our desires we suffer.

In other words, desire is not the cause of suffering; it is the opposite of suffering. Desire is what feels good. The truth is, desire is good. Desire is what keeps us going in life. It’s not getting stuff that makes us happy, it’s wanting stuff, hoping for stuff, dreaming of stuff – stuff like love, success, adventure, or meaning. Desire itself is the payoff!

Sure, sometimes we’re frustrated. Sometimes we get what we want, only to find out that it’s not as great as we thought. But to try to eliminate the central feature of a good human life just because of these stumbling blocks is to throw the baby out with the bathwater. These stumbling blocks are a necessary cost of leading a good human life.

I had this interesting conversation with a friend who just shared a perspective on desire, the happiness associated with the fulfillment of desire is temporary it goes away once a desire is fulfilled but what is even more long lasting is the happiness of having one less desire from the laundry list of desires we have…when we evolve spiritually the desires also under go transformation , so they are no longer deluded impulses but they become more service oriented, they are more towards larger good and oneness.Desires and attachments are then seen as fueling the quest for enlightenment.

The whole idea is to desire from a state of being complete, there is nothing in this universe that we do not deserve, whether it is health, happiness, abundance or even moksha, nirvana all that is ever there and all that will ever be is owned by each one of us it is just our own inhibitions and lack in self that keeps us away from it.

When you know that you lack nothing, that all there is, is you and yours, desire ceases.

―Nisargadatta Maharaj

Hindus talk about Atman, or your true Self, and say that “you are that”. Buddhists talk about suchness, or tathagata, and say that the nature of mind has no self. On the face of it they are saying the exact opposite, and yet it’s also been said that they are saying the exact same thing. It takes a lot of meditation and study to know why they are saying the same thing. Every thought movement you have is you. It is Buddha mind. When taught to meditate, you are taught to not push away thoughts – if you have a desire, don’t stop it – don’t push it away – just notice it. Anything that we resist is persists so whether it is our thoughts while meditation or our desires , if we will resist it they will occur again and again. You start by dis-identifying with it. By noticing it, it is no longer you. But later your awareness becomes more encompassing and it makes just as much sense to say that everything that occurs is you.

So once you understand that whatever you desire is there for you ; life is all about what is worth the desire 🙂 . You just need to be mindful in keeping your desires out to the universe as they will be fulfilled …. ‘The Secret’ ‘Law of Attraction’ ‘Synchronicity’ all are tools . You are a luminous light being and a master manifestor when you open your heart to your highest good there is nothing that will not show up in your reality.

Desire

“When you really desire something, All the Universe conspires to achieve it for YOU” – Paulo Coelho

So if you are skeptical about the Paulo Coelho Quote read the abridged version, the secret lies in being in alignment with your soul /higher self/ buddha nature.
